An exploratory data analysis on student learning trends in the Precalculus Center at Colorado State University
Joining the universities ongoing U-Behavior study, I laid the foundation for future undergraduate researchers, no matter what aspects the were researching, by creating the foundational data analysis programming.
Tutoring in the Precalculus Center
Armed with the knowledge that tutoring in the center for years brings, I worked with the U-Behavior team to create the underlying programming in RStudio to analyze all the data that’s collected on homework and test scores, tracking how (anonymous) students progress over time depending on the resources they use.
Due to how many different factors at play, and their unknown impact on scores, I had a blast problem solving how to evaluate a factors influence and connecting everything I’ve learned from talking to students into quantitative data.
